Erasmus+ | ICT tools for a creative and collaborative classroom
I work at IH as a teacher of Slovak and English language. As most teachers since 2020, I have also been facing challenges connected to online teaching. To keep my students interested and engaged, I have taken part in a course called “ICT tools for a creative and collaborative classroom.”And indeed, during the course, I have got a grip on many inspiring ICT tools which are fun, engaging, easy to use, and, most importantly, boost communication, cooperation and language skills.
We were trained how to share and build up exciting projects through collaborative tools, such as Padlet and Miro. We prepared a fun quiz with Plickers, and we have learnt how to use ready-made lesson plans and how to prepare an engaging lesson including all kinds of media with lesson-planning ICT tools called Nearpod and TED-Education. We were also inspired to include a short, fun drawing-guessing game called Scribble.io.
We also gained new technical skills and became able to record a podcast with Anchor, to produce an animated movie with Stop motion studio, and to include a popular building game in the educational process via Minecraft Educational Edition.
Moreover, not only did we gain some new technical skills, but we were also inspired by the way our teacher trainer Riccardo Manni planned and conducted his lessons. We were constantly activated and engaged, and even with the amount of computer work we were required to do, we never stopped communicating, collaborating, exchanging ideas and enjoying each other´s company. Not only did we learn a lot, but also enjoyed the atmosphere and interaction with an international network of teachers.
