Our teachers
As stated in the IH World Quality Standards, IHWO schools must only
employ teachers who are qualified and trained to the appropriate level
and whose initial teacher training qualification has been approved by
the IH World organisation.
Strict requirement
As
stated in the IH World Quality Standards, IHWO schools must only employ
teachers who are qualified and trained to the appropriate level and
whose initial teacher training qualification has been approved by the
IH World organisation. Main criteria for approval of teacher training
courses include: a) standardized and moderated assessment, syllabus,
and content in all centres b) teacher training centres must be
regularly approved and inspected by the main educational institution
providing these qualifications c) the initial training courses must
include a minimum of 120 input hours and a minimum number of hours of
teaching practice in the classroom, observed and assessed
- The initial teacher training qualifications that are approved by IHWO are:
CELTA – University of Cambridge Certificate in Teaching English to Adults
CertTesol - The Trinity Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages
IHC – International House Certificate in TEFL
Other less well-known approved and recognised initial ELT qualifications include: RELSA, SIT Certificate
- Additional qualifications and Courses
The
IH World Organisation offers teachers a range of additional methodology
courses to build their specialized skills and provide a focus for their
teacher development. Every year a number of teachers at IH Bratislava
take the IH Certificate in Teaching Business English (IHBET) and the
IH Certificate in Language Awareness (IHLAC)
